Backstory

A brilliant and lauded poet, Astrid’s critical success comes at a significant toll to her enduring spirit. A child of great tragedy, Astrid lives in a cliff-side manor alone. The husk of what was once a bright and vibrant family home. One day she meets a down on his luck philosopher with no where to go and offers him a room. At first they keep mainly to themselves. The philosopher barely leaves the scattered books in his room until Astrid presses him to get a job at the local community college to help with bills. The work begins to pull him out of himself and she finds herself surprised that the parlor where she spent so many nights staring in to the dark corners of the room had once again become warm and tender. Like she remembered it once being before losing everything. The philosopher’s unexpected disappearance would bring it all back though. The audacity of him coming back months later was the greatest insult somehow. As they raise a child together she can’t help but begin thinking more like him as he does her.
